Overview

‘Mate’ is a mobile application designed to facilitate easy access to dog-related services. This case study explores the research, design, and evaluation process behind creating a user-friendly platform.

Frustrations and pain points

  • It’s not easy to find dog walkers in your surrounding area.

  • Life can change in a heartbeat and it's very difficult to find a pet caregiver with short notice.

  • There is not enough information and personalized recommendations for your pet based on your pet's needs.

Problem statement

  • It’s not easy to find dog services in your surrounding area if you're not a big-city resident.

  • Life can change in a heartbeat and it's very difficult to find a pet caregiver with short notice.

  • There is not enough information and personalized recommendations for your pet based on your pet's needs.

Possible Solutions

  • A map-based application that can show you result close to you.

  • Rating and recommendation system that gives you a better result for trustworthy service.

  • A platform that gives you all the services you need under one roof and the ability to share and save the ones you prefer the most.

Location: San-Fransisco

Maria likes to surf and skate in her free time and she needs to ensure her pet's well-being while she's running her business or taking a surf trip.

Frustrations

  • Fear that she won't be able to go on her upcoming surf trip.

  • Can’t find a dog walker in the area near her home.

  • Needing to go out of town every time for a simple treatment is very
    time-consuming.

Needs

  • Stop making drives out of town and wasting time on the roads.

  • Maria needs to ensure the quality of the service supplier.

  • More options to pick from without spending hours searching Google.

Mate gives you a way to find and get services with ease, find one close to you or search the ones your friends told you about, and save them on a list for the time you need them.

I choose to analyze two key competitors to gain insights into their features, and customer satisfaction levels, enabling me to make informed decisions and select the most suitable solution.

According to the survey results, we see that most dog owners struggle with finding a reliable service for their pets. Also, we can see that searching and asking about services can be very time-consuming, and the process of finding a service close and reliable is very tedious.

This case study focused on understanding the needs of dog owners and trying to translate those findings into a mobile application. By bridging the gap between the demands of dog owners and the convenience of mobile technology, 'Mate' provides a comprehensive solution that enhances the overall experience of dog ownership.
